Biography

Donnie Whitfield Jr, a servant of Jesus Christ started his journey of faith in 1995, when he kept his promise to his aunt and uncle to visit their congregation the first Sunday after an encounter with the law. Brother Kevin and Bernadette Nash were faithful members of Central Church of Christ and had often encouraged him to attend worship and to live a life in obedience to Christ. That very first Sunday morning after his release, Donnie visited and heard the gospel being preached straight from the bible. He understood the message very clearly and returned the following Sunday to walk out on faith and was baptized into the body of Christ in May of 1995.

Thus began his journey as a New Testament Christian as a member of Central Church of Christ. Donnie was very attentive to his studies in the First Steps of Faith class, taught by Brother Clinton Miles Jr. In April of 1997 he met the former Chanell Thomas in the bible class, they dated for two years and were married on January 23, 1999. Donnie and Chanell Whitfield have two children from their marriage (Kayla and Donnell Whitfield) and one  son from a former relationship (George Jordan).  The family worshipped together at the Central congregation from 1995 until 2015. In 2015 after his ordination as the Evangelistic Minister the family began worshipping at the Edgewood Church of Christ under the direction of Brother John Wilkie.

On March 10, 2019, Bro. Donnie Whitfield Jr was ordinated to become an official evangelist of the Churches of Christ and he also became the Assistant Minister at the Edgewood congregation.  In October 2021 the Whitfield family placed membership at the InnerCity Church of Christ, since then, Brother Whitfield has continued to preach and teach the gospel to people, encouraging them to become pupils of the gospel.
